If your teeth are not as straight as you would like them to be and, for that reason, you tend to hide your smile, then know that Invisalign is a teeth-straightening option that just may be the right choice for you. Many people who are living with crooked teeth will continue living with their crooked teeth because they do not want to wear braces.

They may not like the way braces look or they do not want to be bothered taking care of braces as they feel they simply do not have the time to give. If this sounds like you, then finding out more about how Invisalign can straighten your teeth is going to be well worth your time.

How Invisalign improves smiles

Invisalign improves smiles by straightening one’s teeth in a very short amount of time. The Invisalign process is a great choice for those who have minimally crooked teeth. This allows them to have an improved smile without the need to wear traditional braces. The following is a list of general information as well as benefits that come with choosing Invisalign to improve someone’s smile.

How Invisalign works

The Invisalign teeth straightening process uses a certain number of clear aligners to straighten one’s teeth. This simply depends on each patient's individual needs. They are barely noticeable when being worn and can be removed from one’s mouth for a certain amount of time every day. The aligners are custom-made for each dental patient and need to be replaced every few weeks. The average amount of time one can expect to have straighter teeth is about nine months.

The aligners can be taken out for a certain period of time every day. Thus, it is possible for those who choose this option for improving their smile to remove them when attending special events, like a wedding or an anniversary celebration.

Choosing the right dental professional

Making a consultation appointment with a dental professional for their advice is recommended. This is the ideal time to ask any questions about the Invisalign teeth straightening process. Once someone has chosen the right dental professional, the dentist will provide them with an Invisalign based treatment plan. This treatment plan is specifically designed for them.

Is Invisalign the right choice for you?

Now that you understand more about how Invisalign can improve the way you look when you smile, is this the right choice for you? The benefits that come with choosing this teeth-straightening option are many. They can give you the straight teeth you want in a very short amount of time.

If you do not feel confident showing your teeth when you smile because they are not as straight as you would like them to be, then making a consultation appointment to find out more about your Invisalign options is highly recommended.

4 Tips for Proper Invisalign Maintenance

Learning how to conduct proper Invisalign maintenance is a must when you start wearing clear braces. These dental prosthetics are used to fix a variety of orthodontic issues, and they are quickly becoming the preferred type of braces.

Traditional braces have been the norm in orthodontics for decades, but these devices are highly visible in the patient's mouth. It can lead to people feeling self-conscious about their appearance.

With clear braces, it is now possible to straighten teeth without compromising the patient's appearance.

Proper Invisalign maintenance is necessary since these devices are susceptible to bacteria buildup. It can also trap food particles on teeth while preventing saliva, which is a natural teeth cleaner, from washing it away. Clear braces not being adequately cleaned can lead to bad breath and tooth decay.

4 tips for Invisalign maintenance

1. Clean teeth and the tray in the morning

One of the first things patients should do after waking up is clean their mouths and the aligner tray. Bacteria builds up on both as the wearer sleeps. Cleaning teeth and the tray should also be the last thing the patient does before going to bed.

2. Rinse out the aligner whenever it is removed

Clear braces should be rinsed with water whenever they have been removed before reinserting them. Rinsing helps in washing away dried saliva and some of the bacteria on it. Always rinse with cold water since hot water can warp the fit.

3. Brush and floss after each meal

Patients are advised to brush and floss after each meal when wearing clear braces. Food particles can get stuck between teeth during meals. Putting the aligner back in without cleaning them means these particles get to stay on teeth and be converted into acids. The acids are free to damage teeth since saliva cannot get to the tooth to clean it.

4. Soak the tray in denture solution daily

Clear braces should be soaked in denture solution or clear aligner cleaner each day. A toothbrush should be used to clean the aligner when it is removed from the solution. It should be thoroughly rinsed afterward.

Keeping clear braces in good condition

1. Always store clear braces in an appropriate case

People who wear clear braces should keep a case that the tray can be stored in on them at all times. This helps to keep the device clean and safe when it is removed. When trays are left out, they should be thoroughly cleaned before being reinserted.

2. Never eat with clear braces

Clear braces should be removed before meals. It prevents food particles from getting stuck on the device, and it also helps to avoid staining. When clear braces become stained, it becomes easier to detect them in the wearer's mouth.

3. Never use toothpaste to clean it

Clear braces should never be cleaned with toothpaste. That can lead to discoloration, making the device a lot more visible. Only clear braces crystals or denture solution should be used to clean the trays.

Invisalign® Braces: Facts About the Process

If you want a beautiful smile, then Invisalign® braces can be an excellent option for achieving this goal. There are many benefits to straightening your teeth with Invisalign®, but the most popular benefit is the fact that the aligners are completely clear. When straightening your teeth, it will be difficult for anyone to notice that you are doing so.

Invisalign is subtle...

This  discretion makes it possible for you to maintain your appearance at work or to look your best on a date without worrying about the appearance of your teeth. We understand that many adults need to look a certain way for their professional or social life; Invisalign® allows you to do so.

Invisalign Treatment Facts

We encourage you to schedule a consultation with our office so we can go over what life is like when straightening your teeth with Invisalign®. We will answer any questions you have, explain the process in detail, and let you know whether or not you are a good candidate for this popular treatment option.

Look:

Before coming in, here are a few things to know about Invisalign:

#1 — Invisalign® works in complex cases

This treatment option is not only for people who have mildly crooked teeth. We can use it to close gaps between your teeth, straighten them, and address bite issues. The one thing Invisalign® cannot help treat is correcting bite issues that result from the actual placement of your jawbone. For this, you may need traditional orthodontics or even oral surgery.

#2 — Your treatment plan is established at the beginning

When you first visit our office, we will examine you and identify whether or not you are a good candidate for straightening teeth using aligners. If so, we will take measurements and digital images that can be uploaded into our computer software. We use this software to create a road map for where your teeth need to move, based on their current position. At each step along the way, an aligner will be used to move your teeth that much closer to being perfectly straight. By planning for everything at the beginning, there are rarely any treatment delays.

#3 — You can smile without anyone noticing you are straightening your teeth

Since the aligners surrounding your teeth are perfectly clear and removable, there will be no obvious difference to your appearance other than teeth that are gradually becoming straighter. You take your aligners out to eat, so there are no food restrictions or awkward moments that result from food in the teeth. This makes it possible to go on a date, have lunch with a client, or enjoy your favorite burger without discomfort.

#4 — Attachments may be necessary

Some people require attachments as part of the process. These small, ceramic squares are secured to specific teeth to help the aligners get a better grip on them so they can move into the proper position more easily.

#5 — Wearing a retainer is perfectly normal after Invisalign® braces

Retention is part of any orthodontic treatment, so you should expect to wear a clear retainer for a while once you are done.
